The Ports Tab allows you to set up the two different ports that the program supports.
CTMON can use a serial port to monitor a standard CT serial network, or an Ethernet port to monitor messages on a CT Ethernet network. In order for the Ethernet port to work the system must have the Ethernet card proper installed and the TCP/IP networking protocol properly installed. This includes having the computers TCP/IP address set to one that is in the same subnet as the CT network.
The program can have both ports in use at the same time. Of course if you're going to gateway messages both ports must be operational.
The left pane is used to setup the Serial Port. It supports all the standard serial port parameters.
The right pane is used to setup the Ethernet.
The
Broadcast Address should be set to the broadcast address for your network. If your using the standard CT Ethernet setup then you might have IP address's in the range 10.0.0.xxx and the broadcast address would be 10.0.0.255.The
Broadcast Port sets the TCP/IP port that messages will be sent monitored on and sent to. K1TTT's Ethernet driver normally uses 9870.The This Computers IP Address shows the IP address(s) of this computer. This is for informational purposes, or to help you select a proper IP address to broadcast to. You can double click on an address to have CTMon load the correct broadcast address for you for that IP address.
If you have 2 or more Ethernet cards in your computer you might have mixed results in getting CTMon to send packets on the 2nd or greater cards. I am still trying to understand this issue.
